The “Olea Mogador” annual extra virgin olive oil competition rewards the season’s finest oils, blind-tasted by an expert panel recognised by the International Olive Council.

The competition

The competition for the finest extra virgin olive oils

Chemical analysis at INRA Marrakech, then blind tasting: each oil is judged on the quality and intensity of its fruitiness, its complexity and its harmony.

Who can enter

Individual producers, cooperatives, producers’ associations and bottling companies, with an extra virgin olive oil from a homogeneous lot.

Three categories

Moroccan varieties, Moroccan varieties with an SDOQ label, foreign varieties. Each oil competes as a single-variety oil or a blend.

The awards

Premium, Gold, Silver and Bronze: a medal, a certificate and medal stickers for your bottles.

Fill in the form

Your contact details and those of your estate, in French, English or Arabic.

Declare your oils

One form per oil: category, varieties, lot volume. One sample per option (single-variety, blend).

Pay the fee

MAD 1,000 per sample for categories 1 and 3, paid to the Association of Olive Producers of Essaouira.

Drop off your samples

2 × 500 ml and 2 × 100 ml tinted-glass bottles, at the DPA of Essaouira, 23–27 November 2026 (2 pm).

Beyond the jury’s deliberations, Essaouira hosts tasting workshops, a national round table and the awards ceremony.

Led by the Olea Mogador jury experts, for olive mill managers, restaurateurs and students of the vocational institute.

National round table

Provincial synergy to promote a regional label: SDOQ olive oil as a model.

Awards ceremony

Results announced on 12 December, with testimonies from the winners.
